Microsoft Office has released its first official “Microsoft Office OneNote” app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices. This app is available immediately in Apple’s App Store.

OneNote lets you create, edit and view lists and notes on your idevice. It also allows you to synchronize your data with free Windows Online storage and access them from anywhere using your PC or iPhone.

In case you haven’t experienced the unsung hero of Office, OneNote is a digital notebook that lets you put everything you need to remember in one electronic place and then easily find it wherever you are. I use it every day. Think of it as a digital file cabinet for all the random bits of information that are too hard to keep track of in your head. According to comScore, 78 million PCs in the U.S. have OneNote – more than a third of all the PCs in the country.

Here is what you can do with OneNote:

• Create flexible notes that can include text, pictures, bullets, and checkboxes
• Check To Do items off on the go
• Save time with quick access to your most recent notes
• Work with confidence—OneNote Mobile automatically syncs your notes with Windows Live in the background
• Organize your notes into sections or create new notebooks using OneNote 2010 or OneNote Web App and access them from your iPhone

Requirements:

▪ iPhone or iPod touch must have iOS 4.2 or higher
▪ A free Windows Live ID is required to use OneNote Mobile —use an existing one or let OneNote Mobile help you sign up
▪ Web functionality uses the free OneNote Web App available on Windows Live, which requires a supported web browser
▪ OneNote Mobile opens notebooks created in Microsoft OneNote 2010 or the OneNote Web App
▪ Customizing section colors requires Microsoft OneNote 2010
