Streets of Rage, is a side-scrolling beat ‘em up released by Sega in 1991 for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. It is the first installment of the Streets of Rage series which was followed by Streets of Rage 2 and Streets of Rage 3. The game was also converted over to Sega’s Game Gear, Sega CD and Master System. In 2007, the game was released for the Wii’s Virtual Console in North America and Europe, and in 2009 it was released for the iPhone OS via the App Store.
Description:
SOR1 -> The city was once a happy, peaceful place…until one day, a powerful secret criminal organization took over. This vicious syndicate soon had control of the government and even the police force. The city has become a center of violence and crime where no one is safe. Amid this turmoil, a group of determined young police officers has sworn to clean up the city. Among them are Adam Hunter, Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding. They’ve decided to put their lives on the line and take back their city through their special hand-to-hand combat abilities. They are willing to risk anything, even their lives, on the Streets of Rage.
SOR2 -> As one of four skilled fighters, take to the streets and battle your way through the corruption that grips the city in order to save your friend Adam from the clutches of Mr. X.
Adam, the city’s original hero, has been kidnapped and it’s up to Skate, Axel, Blaze, and Max to save him. The city is overrun with hardened thugs and criminals, but armed with your amazing fighting abilities, you’ll be well equipped to take down these villains and save Adam and the rest of your city!
SOR3 -> The original dirty brawler concludes with Robots, Clones and Kangaroos! Help Axel, Blaze, Skate, and Dr. Zan put an end to Mr. X once and for all.
After tasting defeat at the hands of our heroes, Mr. X has returned with an all-new plot to rule the city from the shadows. Using a new company as a front, Mr. X has brought in the world’s premier roboticist to create an army of clones to replace the city’s top officials. Now, it’s up to you and your friends to take to battle your way through the distractions set up by The Syndicate and stop Mr. X once and for all.
